Tap Classes at On Pointe School of Dance

Tap is a form of dance characterized by a tapping sound that is created from metal plates that are attached to both the ball and heel of the dancer’s shoe. These metal plates, when tapped against a hard surface, create a percussive sound and as such the dancers are considered to be, somewhat, musicians.

Ages: 2 years and above

Dance Wear:

  • Girls: Leotard, tights, dance shorts or dance capris that are above the knee.
  • Boys: Sweatpants or loose-fitting pants suitable for movement and a t-shirt.
  • Shoes should be standard tap shoes. We recommend a snap closure or something easy for younger children to pull on/off if they need help with shoes.
